HUNGER FOR SEX - The bigger picture of sex in marriage (11)

.

.
David feels the people that believe that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach have goofed; to him, sex is the most important aspect of his marriage. He isn't enjoying his marriage to the fullest; he wished Susan, his wife, will become more interested in sex and more willing to initiate physical intimacy. He wished Susan understands his sex drive; that was what he felt could aid mutual satisfaction.
.
.
Susan is aware that David's sex drive is stronger than hers yet she underestimates the impact that it has on their relationship
.
David, despite having a wife, feels alone with his secrets and desires. He keeps wondering how on earth he could communicate the sex issue to his wife; the last time he tried, his wife's disinterest weakened his morale.
.
Susan hates the fact that David thinks about sex so much and always wants it. Sometimes, she dreads going to bed, fearing David will ask for sex and so finds chores to do around the house hoping David will fall asleep before she is ready for bed. She saw David's desires as extremely dirty and unpleasant; passion without love, drive without self control, sensuality without sensitivity. She sometimes prefers to pretend that David's sexuality doesn't exist wishing she could shut him off somehow. She often feels guilty of not meeting David's sexual needs though but just wishes the whole ordeal can be put on hold for a couple of years.
.
Over time, Susan's sex life has become a burden while for David, the compartmentalized sex life is the source of his burden. He tries to avoid the three secretaries who have got eyes on hm in his work place; Susan's withholding from sex gets it all complicated. He feels Sussan is partially responsible to keep him pure by not starving his sex drive.
.
''The power of man's sex drive remains a constant force of both intimacy and destruction. Your husband needs sex, so give it up.'' were the words she grasped yesterday at couple's seminar service from Pastor Emmanuel's short sermon. After a hefty dose of guilt and fear that David may cheat on her, Susan resolves to make sex more of a priority in her marriage.
.
Susan and David start having sex more often but a lot of things remain wrong with their sex life. Mutual satisfaction is still an issue. Her resolve finally wears out and now she becomes resentful.
.
David's morale remains down because he reads burden on her face whenever it's time for sex. Was this what he wished for? Heck no!! The sex is now more frequent but the marriage isn't getting any better. As long as David was concerned, he didn't just want to have sex with Susan because she saw it as a chore; he rather wants Susan to want to be with him. He wanted a change based on nothing else but love.
